P0171 & P0174 Restricted Performance (Resolved) I got the dreaded Restricted Performance message on the way back from the Tan Hill meet. Car goes into limp mode and wont go past 3k rpm. Posted August 26, 2016. my 10 plate XF 3.0d goes into restricted performance mode if I go heavy on the accelerator if I go to about three quarters down on the pedal up it pops so I have to pull over switch off the engine lock the doors wait for everything to go off then start her back up and everything is fine. If I drive my 2003 S Type R a short distance, say 100-1000 yards, or even just up the drive way (25 yards) the next time I restart the car I get a restricted performance notice on the dash. If I drive the car for around half an hour, or let it idle for the same period, then turn it off and restart the warning has cleared, and does not return. Got the DPF removed and cleaned for £190 + VAT, which includes a 12 month guarantee, by these guys - there are branches in other areas I believe: Shine the light up towards the location of the hood latch and locate the latch release cable, Reach in with the pliers and grab the cable as close to the latch as possible. Once you have a firm grip on the cable, pull on it in the direction it naturally moves (i.e., towards the fender or down, depending on its routing).
